Wuhu High-tech Zone: Striving for Excellence and Moving Towards the Future
How far can a company go in five years? Wuhu Bokang Electromechanical Co., Ltd., located in Wuhu High-tech Zone, has provided its own answer: During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the company's compound annual growth rate exceeded 30%, and its sales in 2025 increased threefold compared to 2021; in the automotive air conditioning wiring harness segment, its market share jumped to the first place in the country.
Recently, a reporter visited the production workshop of Bokang Electromechanical, where multiple automated production lines were operating at high speed. Rolls of wire harnesses were being shaped by the machines and would eventually be assembled into the "nerve network" of automobiles.
"The company focuses on the manufacturing and sales of automotive component wiring harnesses, including electric rearview mirror wiring harnesses, oil pump wiring harnesses, and sensor wiring harnesses. In the field of new energy vehicle wiring harnesses, it has achieved full coverage of high and low voltage wiring harnesses for power battery BMS, PTC, electric drive and control, and electric compressor systems," said Zhu Zhongyou, Chairman of Bokang Electromechanical. He added that thanks to Wuhu's thriving automotive industry ecosystem and the excellent business environment of the High-tech Zone, the company has achieved continuous and healthy development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
Standing at the new starting point of the 15th Five-Year Plan, Zhu Zhongyou is full of expectations for the next five years of development. "With the support of the government, we are building a new production base. The first phase of the project has been completed, and the second phase is expected to start in 2027." According to him, by the end of the 15th Five-Year Plan, the company is expected to have an annual production capacity of 30 million sets of automotive parts wiring harnesses. "Annual sales are expected to double again, from 1.8 billion yuan in 2025 to 4 billion yuan in 2030, contributing to the high-quality development of Wuhu's leading industry!"
The rapid development of Bokang Electromechanical is a vivid manifestation of the clustering and momentum of the intelligent connected and new energy vehicle industry in the High-tech Zone. To date, the High-tech Zone has built a complete industrial chain ecosystem covering "complete vehicles - three-electric systems - key systems - service applications", with 247 industrial enterprises above designated size, achieving an output value of 66 billion yuan in 2025.
The 14th Five-Year Plan period was a time of profound transformation and leapfrog development for the High-Tech Zone (Yijiang District), during which it was honored with titles such as the National Pilot Zone for Integrated Development of Manufacturing and Service Industries and "One of China's Top 100 Industrial Districts." Li Xinyu, Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of Wuhu High-Tech Zone, as well as Secretary of the Yijiang District Party Committee, highlighted that over the past five years, the High-Tech Zone has achieved "three leaps." First, the industrial scale has seen a "cluster leap," with the real economy as its foundation, building a "1+3+3" modern industrial system. The annual output value of industries above the designated size exceeded 120 billion yuan. Second, the innovation ecosystem has experienced a "density leap," with 243 provincial-level and above platforms for innovation and entrepreneurship. The numbers of specialized, sophisticated, distinctive, and innovative "little giant" enterprises, high-tech enterprises, and technology-based SMEs lead the city. The four major park projects under the "Jiuzi Science and Technology Bay" have attracted over 10 billion yuan in investment. Third, the "happiness leap" in public well-being has been realized, with continuous optimization of education and healthcare resources. The district has been recognized as one of the first national pilot zones for science education. Two national regional medical centers, Tiantan Hospital and Anding Hospital, have risen from the ground, and the per capita disposable income of residents has steadily increased.
If the core strength of the High-tech Zone is industry and its brightest feature is innovation, then its warmest tone is people's livelihood, which consists of key little things that the masses can feel and access.
On the morning of December 30, 2025, under the warm winter sun, a reporter visited Ruidongyuan Community in Nanrui Street. Several elderly people were playing chess in a newly built pavilion, while a few "players" were "battling" at the ping-pong table next to them. The cheerful laughter of children playing could be heard from the leisure square.
Built in 2004, Ruidongyuan was once a typical "aged community": peeling exterior walls, chaotic parking, and dim streetlights. In 2024, the community was included in a key project for the renovation of old residential areas, and the renovation was completed in two phases in 2025, involving 42 buildings and 1,722 households. Resident Ying Jianwu happily told reporters that the renovation not only renovated the facades, replaced the streetlights, and repaired the roads, but also added activity areas for the elderly and playgrounds for children. "The old community has become a beautiful and comfortable new home, and now everyone is very happy living here."
During the interview, the reporter learned that the renovation of Ruidongyuan Community fully incorporated residents' opinions. Through door-to-door visits by "Red Cube Unit Leaders," 174 reasonable suggestions from residents, such as adding parking spaces, dredging pipelines, improving the green environment, and adding fitness equipment and children's playground facilities, were incorporated into the renovation plan for the old community. This truly transformed residents' needs from "verbal expression" into a "written list" and from "dispersed demands" into a "renovation consensus."
The fundamental purpose of reform and development is to fulfill the people's aspirations for a better life. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the High-tech Zone has strived to transform people's aspirations into tangible happiness through a series of practical measures to improve people's lives: accelerating urban renewal, renovating 23 old residential communities, benefiting 10,522 households, and completing ecological upgrades and renovations of parks such as Nanrui Lake and Wailongwo Lake Wetland Park; completely abolishing household registration restrictions for old-age insurance enrollment, covering flexible employment personnel in new business formats; constructing and renovating 24 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens, adding more than 19,000 new student places; and building 32 urban study rooms and community book bars, as well as more than 100 indoor and outdoor sports and fitness venues...
Five years of hard work to write a glorious chapter, and never slack off to start a new journey. "General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that high-tech zones must be both high and new. 'High' means high level and 'new' means new technology." Li Xinyu said that facing the "15th Five-Year Plan", Wuhu High-tech Zone will keep in mind the instructions and firmly follow the path of "industry + scientific innovation", and bravely assume the "main position of economic development" and build strong "industry". "Develop the main platform", compete for the "main track of scientific and technological innovation", create a "new model of industry-city integration", strive to be the "ballast stone" and "growth pole" of high-quality development, "take the lead and set a demonstration, and make greater "high-tech" contributions to the city's acceleration of the construction of a modern provincial sub-center and the province's creation of "three places and one district"!"
