Wuhu's Emerging Industries Lead the Province in Growth Rate

According to the Wuhu Municipal Development and Reform Commission, from January to September 2025, the city's strategic emerging industries output value increased by 12.4% year-on-year, ranking first in the province. Its share of the total output value of industries above designated size reached 49.4%, a significant increase of 7.2 percentage points compared to 2020. This rapid growth and high output value signify substantial progress made by Wuhu in cultivating new productive forces and building a modern industrial system.
Since the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Wuhu City has focused its economic development efforts on the real economy, deeply implementing five major breakthrough initiatives centered on technological innovation, and promoting the integrated and clustered development of emerging industries. Currently, it has formed a modern industrial framework dominated by nine emerging industries: new energy vehicles and intelligent connected vehicles, next-generation information technology, aviation (low-altitude economy), new materials, intelligent manufacturing, new energy and energy conservation and environmental protection, big health and green food, cultural tourism, and artificial intelligence and data computing power, injecting strong momentum into high-quality economic development.
The rapid upgrading of industrial capacity is attributed to a precise and effective promotion mechanism. Wuhu has innovatively established a working model of "industry-specific task force + core carrier + leading enterprise + professional think tank," and issued policy documents such as the "Wuhu City Action Plan for Breakthrough in the Development of New Quality Productivity," providing institutional guarantees for the rapid growth of strategic emerging industries. As the leading industry, the new energy vehicle and intelligent connected vehicle industry has gathered more than 2,000 upstream and downstream enterprises, with the total revenue of the entire industrial chain expected to exceed 600 billion yuan, becoming an important engine for economic growth.
A comprehensive breakthrough has been achieved in industrial scale. The scale of industries such as next-generation information technology, new materials, new energy, and energy conservation and environmental protection has all exceeded 100 billion yuan. The development of two national-level regional medical centers is being accelerated. The aviation (low-altitude economy) industrial chain is complete, and the production of a domestically manufactured general aviation aircraft can be completed within the aviation industrial park. The computing power of the artificial intelligence industry has exceeded 30,000 petabytes, the comprehensive strength of the robotics industry has risen to 6th in the country, the revenue of the smart home appliance industry has exceeded 100 billion yuan, and a leading shipbuilding enterprise has successfully developed the world's first standardized ship type with a PACK battery swapping mode.
While consolidating its advantages in strategic emerging industries, Wuhu City is actively developing five major future industry directions: future manufacturing, future energy, future information, future health, and future materials. Low-altitude economy, humanoid robots, and hydrogen energy have already been approved as the first batch of provincial-level future industry pilot zones, accounting for 30% of the province's total. Next, Wuhu will further cultivate pilot zones for future industries such as green intelligent ships, synthetic biology, computing power and data networks, and autonomous driving, continuously enhancing its leading role in the construction of the province's modern industrial system.
